PileStack is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our application and services.
We believe privacy is a fundamental right. We've designed PileStack with privacy-first principles: your data stays on your device, and we only collect what's necessary to provide the service.
2. Data Collection
PileStack collects minimal data. Here's exactly what we collect:
- Your Content: Saved links, screenshots, text notes, collections (stored locally on your device)
- iCloud Data: If you enable iCloud Sync, your content is synced to Apple's CloudKit service
- App Store Data: Subscription and purchase information (managed entirely by Apple)
- App Analytics: Basic crash reports and performance metrics (optional, can be disabled)
What we do NOT collect:
- Your name, email, phone number, or other personal identifiers
- Browsing history or metadata about your saved content
- Location data
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Any data for the purpose of selling or sharing with third parties
3. Data Storage
All your data is stored locally on your device by default. This means:
- Your saved content exists on your phone/iPad first and foremost
- We don't operate servers that store your data
- Only you can access your content unless you enable iCloud Sync
Encryption
Data in transit (when syncing to iCloud) is encrypted using industry-standard TLS/SSL protocols. Data at rest is protected using iOS's native encryption.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you keep the app installed. If you delete the app, your local data is removed from your device. iCloud data can be manually deleted through iCloud settings.
4. iCloud Sync
PileStack uses Apple's CloudKit service to enable optional cross-device synchronization. Here's how it works:
- Optional: iCloud Sync is opt-in. You can use PileStack entirely offline without syncing
- End-to-End Encrypted: Data synced to iCloud is encrypted and only accessible with your Apple ID
- Apple Managed: iCloud infrastructure is managed entirely by Apple, not by us
- Multi-Device: Once enabled, your saved content automatically appears on all your iOS and macOS devices

5. Subscriptions
PileStack offers optional premium subscriptions to unlock additional features:
- Monthly Plan: $2.99/month with a 1-week free trial
- Yearly Plan: $17.99/year with a 1-week free trial
How Payments Work
- All subscriptions are processed through Apple's App Store
- We never see your payment information (credit card, bank details, etc.)
- Apple handles all billing, refunds, and subscription management
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled
Managing Your Subscription
You can cancel or modify your subscription anytime in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → PileStack.
Free Trial
Your 1-week free trial gives you full access to premium features. Your subscription will auto-renew at the end of the trial unless you cancel beforehand.
6. Third-Party Services
PileStack uses a few third-party services to function properly:
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and licensing (doesn't collect personal data)
- Apple App Store: In-app purchases and payment processing
- Apple CloudKit: Optional iCloud synchronization service

7. Your Rights
You have the right to control your data:
- Access: All your data is accessible within the PileStack app
- Export: You can export your saved content as Markdown or CSV
- Delete: You can delete individual items, collections, or all data at any time
- Opt-Out: You can disable iCloud Sync anytime
- Cancel Subscription: You can cancel your premium subscription anytime in Settings
Deleting Everything
If you uninstall PileStack, all local data is removed from your device. iCloud data can be deleted through iCloud settings or by disabling iCloud Sync.
